3 Principles Practitioner Programme
I have been training 3 Principles practitioners since 2013 and it has been my privilege to see the transformative impact this understanding has had on so many people’s life and work.
My current 9 month Practitioner Programme commenced in October 2024 at Regent’s University in London. It is a deep-dive training with a small group, incorporating live, in-person group sessions, online guest webinars and individual mentoring. You can read more about the programme below.
I won’t be offering a Practitioner Programme in 2025 - if you sign up for my occasional newsletters I’ll keep you posted regarding my upcoming workshops, retreats and trainings.

Introduction
The Practitioner Training is the most in-depth programme I offer, and is designed to be both an educational as well as transformational journey, whilst simultaneously equipping you with the understanding, skills and confidence to catalyze insightful realization in others.
I take my inspiration from the life and work of Sydney Banks, whose own insightful understanding uncovered the simple, foundational principles behind all human experience. To his eternal credit, Sydney Banks recognised that it is only what we realise for ourselves that truly changes us in a profound and sustainable way.
My role, then, as a trainer and facilitator, is to gently point you back to your own innate wisdom, and to create the space for you to have your own life-changing insights. As your understanding deepens, you will naturally find yourself doing the same for others.
The purpose of the training is to provide an immersive and experiential learning environment with the Three Principles understanding at its heart. Whether you are just embarking on your journey with the principles or have been exploring for some time, this is an opportunity to bring focused attention to deepening your grounding and uncovering your own unique way of bringing your understanding out into the world.
When people first catch a glimpse of the potential of this understanding, they often try to find a way to ‘apply the principles’ to one area of life or another. It takes a little while to fully appreciate that the principles are not something that we learn first, and subsequently practice or apply in our life.
We can’t ‘do’ the principles! Rather, through our own insightful realisation we gradually come into ever deeper alignment with the truth that lies behind the principles, and as a direct result, our life and our work is transformed from the inside out.
Whilst every individual learning journey is unique, there are some common threads (and pitfalls) we can learn to recognise that act as helpful pointers along the way. We can imagine the principles as a multi-faceted jewel, and each of us will be drawn to a particular facet at any given moment. By exploring the various different facets as a group over a period of time, we get to see much more than just the initial aspect of the principles that first caught our attention.
What Does the Training Cover?

“Participating in Ian’s 3 Principles Practitioner course was a joy from start to finish. I experienced a gentle, beautiful unraveling of myself, a shedding of outdated thoughts and beliefs which had been burdening me. I emerged lighter, younger looking (so I am told, ladies take note!), with a renewed faith in my own wisdom to guide me in my life. Learning about innate wellbeing was a game changer for me, as it allowed me to relax, let go and trust. Work which I had been doing for 35 years and which I felt was not really serving me anymore literally disappeared in the middle of the course leaving me with a totally new direction to pursue.
The other ingredient which made the course so special was being able to spend an extended period of time with a group of beautiful souls. By the end we all experienced a profound intimacy, love and connection which was so nourishing. I have done a lot of courses and pursued many spiritual “paths” in my life which have helped me along the way but the 3 Principles stands out in its utter groundedness, common sense and practicality. I feel blessed and grateful to have come across this understanding and last and not least, Ian was the consummate facilitator - wise, incredibly insightful and a very loving presence throughout.”

Who is this Training Suitable For?
The key ingredient that would make this training a good fit for you is that you have been personally impacted by this understanding and would like to have it be the foundation for your work, and your life. To that end, you recognise the value of a live, in-person group programme that will enhance and support your training journey in a deep and lasting way.
Important Note: It is not a requirement for joining this programme to have a clearly defined ‘end goal’ in terms of what shape or form your work will take in the future. Part of the magic that deepening your grounding in the principles will activate is that you will very likely have insights and see possibilities beyond those that are currently visible to you. Coupled to this, you will find increasingly that being guided by wisdom offers up opportunities to you that make more sense than earlier ideas that came from a more limited perspective. The universal intelligence of life truly supports us to the degree that we are able and willing to trust it and be guided by it.

“We were all deeply touched and noticeably transformed by the immersive experience of the training. It has also shed light and brought deep resolutions to aspects of my life where I was stuck and felt held back by.
Among the many gifts that came from the training is the total certainty that transformative insights are the agent of lasting change and healing. It is also clear that healing modalities are not the main reason, but can create the condition for those incisive shifts. Knowing that has taken a lot off my shoulders and I can now be more intentional about creating the necessary conditions for my clients to have their own insights.
If you are seeking a top notch transformative educator you would be hard pressed to find a better one than Ian. Oh and it may likely be the only training you’ll ever need!”
What is different about The Insight Space Training?
Here are some of the elements that combine to make this training unique:
Transformational Learning
The very nature of the learning journey we embark upon when we first encounter the Three Principles understanding is that it is transformational and experiential rather than intellectual. Whilst there are books, teachers and metaphors aplenty, it is only when something gets ignited within you that your own true learning has begun. It is a kind of resonance phenomenon, whereby what you hear or read evokes a spontaneous recognition of the truth within yourself. You feel that recognition as an experience of release or relief, a sense of ease or a moment of clarity. What you are experiencing is a shift in your level of consciousness. Until that happens, it’s just more words and concepts. And when that happens, your life changes in an instant and you can never go back to your prior level of understanding.
It is essential for all aspiring Three Principles practitioners to understand and experience how transformation happens via incremental shifts in consciousness, and how transformational learning is fundamentally different to intellectual learning. In this way we avoid confusion about what is and isn’t helpful when it comes to sharing our understanding and supporting others in their own learning.
Human Connection
The cost savings and convenience of running virtual, zoom-based training programmes are undeniable. I know, because I ran them myself during 2020-21 when there was no alternative. What I know for certain, however, is that the online experience is a poor substitute for being physically present, learning and growing together in the company and kinship of a live, in-person peer group.
Part of the difference has to do with the innate intelligence within the group mind and the way in which we pick up and respond to all kinds of subtle, energetic, verbal and non-verbal signals when we share a physical space with other human beings. We’re more available to one another and we get to practice being fully present with all of our senses, not just the limited visual and auditory channels that are available via a computer screen.
Having run group trainings for three decades, I can also testify to the depth of friendship and mutual support that emerges naturally when a group meets with a shared intention on a regular basis over a period of time. Despite the increasing encroachment of digital technology, I remain committed to creating a space where we can experience and benefit from this extra dimension, which I believe is needed more than ever before.
Application Agnostic
Many Three Principles training programmes today are actually coaching programmes, or a hybrid of the Three Principles together with coaching skills and techniques. This is great if you are looking to be a coach or are already a coach, but is not necessarily a good fit for everyone else. Whilst coaching, counseling, teaching, nursing or any other professional role is greatly enhanced when grounded in an understanding of the principles, the principles themselves are agnostic of any particular application, role or profession.
My experience has been that learning the principles through the lens of a particular role or discipline can be advantageous for some people but also brings its own limitations. I have grown to love and appreciate the diversity of backgrounds and professions that make up the training groups I have hosted over the years, and I believe it adds a richness and depth to the whole experience. Consequently, The Insight Space training is open to all no matter what your background or professional role (if you have one) may be, and you will be encouraged to share your understanding in whatever way makes sense to you, whether in a professional or non-professional capacity.
Value
You might expect that the massive reduction in overheads that is achieved by running a programme virtually would result in a much reduced cost to the participants, but this rarely seems to be the case. Many training programmes today are just as expensive, or even more expensive than the in-person versions they replaced. Go figure. It’s a funny old world!
Being mindful of the extra dimension that an in-person training brings, as well as the additional costs involved, I have endeavoured to keep the training fees at a level that I believe represents exceptional value.
A Healing Space
My lifelong background working in the healing arts has drawn my attention towards the deep and powerful self-healing aspect of the principles which I feel is often overlooked. I have come to realise in recent years how an insightful understanding of the principles is inextricably linked to a transformation of health on every level - mind, body, spirit, family, community and society.
If you are already a health care professional or therapist, you will find your work deepened & transformed by this understanding, and if not, you will nonetheless discover new healing possibilities in your own life & the lives of those you care about. I believe these principles provide the foundation for a truly holistic understanding and offer a practical solution to the health challenges we see everywhere.
A Spiritual Understanding
The Three Principles are not just a psychological understanding - they are revealing something about the nature of reality and how we experience it, and about our own true nature as spiritual beings in human form. Many people come to this understanding with a background of spiritual seeking or meditation practice and find the ‘missing piece’ in their search. Others who had lost interest in the spiritual dimension of life find that it comes alive for them in a new and meaningful way. And many who followed a particular path or teaching already have found a deeper connection to their faith.
On a very practical level, I have come to see that the incredible psychological and emotional benefits that people experience through insight into the principles are a direct result of this reawakening to the spiritual dimension of life, without which a lasting peace of mind and true fulfilment cannot be found.
How the Practitioner Training Programme impacts our own lives…..
‘That really was the most extraordinary and wonderful 9 months! I didn’t anticipate the extraordinary and (honestly) life-changing journey ahead.
My life has begun to change in lots of tiny but profound ways and I’m just loving being on this lifelong journey!
I would highly recommend the Ian Watson approach….’
— Anne Furniss
'The Three Principles have touched and changed my life for ever - they have no doubt saved my marriage, increased our quality of family life & some of my deep rooted habits have already changed.
A shift in my consciousness has led to all of this through Ian’s professional help, training, guidance and above all care. Ian’s knowledge of the subject is extensive and his articulation is second to none. Thank you Ian.’
— Sean G.
'I was at a particular low point when I started the training and I just noticed that every weekend I would go away feeling lighter.
Now I am more content, more able to be in the moment, more able to appreciate the little things and I have a new job that I am excited about, so without knowing exactly what's shifted, I know that it has’

‘I can’t begin to put into words how much Ian’s Three Principles practitioner course has changed my life. I have let go of so much stress, fear, worry & anxiety in my life & I am so much more relaxed & able to live in the now. I have much improved confidence in myself & my relationships with people close to me are certainly flowing much easier. Our family dynamic has changed so much and I am so much more relaxed as a parent.
I met such a wonderful group of people who I grew very close to and I am so grateful to them all for their input throughout our journey together. Ian is a wonderful facilitator, he made everything flow so smoothly. He makes the experience so easy & effortless, nothing feels difficult or forced. Ian held space for us all within the group and allowed the time for our insights to land; as if by magic! I would do it all again in a heartbeat.’
